My System: PACE 430 (Radio Reception only to feed a SKY Gnome), PACE 3100 (PVR 2.5), ROI SKY 6 mixes, Technomate TM-1500 CI+, TM-6900 HD, 100 cm Triax (Sky), 80 cm Nokia with Motec SG-2100. MacBook and that's that.
Thumbs up Sky Customer Service

I must admit that I was plesantly surprised over how ultra fast I got through when I called sky to get my SKY+ box activated. No wait, no call center in India and no pushing on products that I don't need nor want It all went really fast with no nonsense!!!

Can't quite understand all the complaints one reads...

Also, it was the Irish number I called so it could be they have less to do than their UK counter part!

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

I think you were lucky, as one of my customers was on the phone for more than 20 minutes the other night, I know this was the case as I was listening.

Even taking the queuing time into account (about 10 minutes), the rest of the call was needlessly long. The pairing of the replacement Sky+ box, took another 10 minutes, something which can be done in less than 2 minutes, much of this was taken up by a difficulty in understanding what the person at the other end of the phone was saying, the rest by pointlessly detailed security procedures.

Weird...

Looking at my mobile's call timer the call took, from when the options menu came on until I was done took: 4 min and 31 Sec. During this time, I was lead through the automatic menu (which I haven't heard in almost 4 years so it was "new" to me), got hold of a rep, gave the rep my card number and other details before checking the Version number of the box. etc. That was it. "I have now updated your file and you will be able to use the SKY+ function at no extra cost within shortly. Have a nice day and please call us back if you should have any problems.". WOW!!!

It could be that the Irish calls go directly to the Glasgow (?) center only and that they have their own section! Don't know, but the service is BRILLIANT!

Its Livingstone (or at least it used to be ), nearer Edinburgh.

I am doing the odd upgrade as an independent, as a lot of customers I have will not have any Sky installer in the house, let alone near the plasma screen/hi fi, so I end up having to fit new LNBs, secondary cable runs and telephone lines on existing systems when the room has been altered.

Some calls have lasted 30 minutes, even with a UK call centre operative.
