28.2E Astra and 13.0E Hotbird

Hey,

My dish is currently pointing to 28.2E Astra for BSkyB, I was hoping to get some more channels on 13.0E Hotbird but only get about 16 mostly BBC 1.

What’s the best thing to do, should I move the dish towards Hotbird more and what overall effect will it have on Sky?

Regards,
CJ.

Hi cjhammer,
welcome to the forum.
I doubt you're getting hotbird, 13E, as your dish is obviously pointing at 28.2E.
What is your dish size?
Do you have a motorised dish, or have you got a fixed dish with multiple LNB's?
You need to have your dish, or LNB, pointing at 13E to receive those channels it is not just a case of scanning in the frequencies for hotbird.
Can you please post some more information and we'll try and help.

My System: TM6800HD+TD110+StabHH90 motor,TM1000D+Orbital 1m Multifeed 16E,23E,28E.DigitAlB movies. A Bigsat BS-S77CX and a Sky Dodgibox.

If you are getting BBC1 on Hotbird, you are not on Hotbird.

If you move the dish towards Hotbird (assuming it is a single LNB setup) you will lose Sky.

If you want Hotbird, you will need a 70-80cm dish and another LNB on the dish, or alternatively put up a completely separate dish possiby motorised for a wide range of satellites or fixed just for Hotbird.

My System: 43cm Dish, Sky Plus v2, Thomson DSI4214, FRACARRO PENTA 85cm, Invacom Twin, Moteck SG2100a H-H DiSEqC Motor, TF5000CI, TM-5200D, Sling Media, Rover Discovery ST-4, Rover SDM-1s, 57E to 58W, Tecatel 1.35m fixed on 28e, Pace D5430-N

Your getting confused.

Eurobird is at 28.5e and is at the same position as 28.2e from earth.

Hotbird is a totally different satellite and is positioned at 13e
