OK, for a grundig its 0345

Press TV

Press Select and TV together until send light blinks twice on RC

Press TV and then type in the code

Press the off button on the remote, if the TV switches off, press select.

If that code doesn't switch off the TV, press TV and then OFF until it does switch off.

This is cycling through the next available codes, so don't do it too quickly.

When you find one that works, press select.

Maybe the R.C is getting a bit old. I have done this before and it worked a treat but now I can get the light to blink. Changed batterys but no change.

Hmm, i suppose that its not unknown for remotes to wear out, biggest problem is button contacts wearing out. You may have to be very deliberate with your button presses

As a permanent source of info got to http://www.sathelp.co.uk and press the sky remote codes button, there are all of the setting methods there.

If you PM me Robbie, I can possibly get a new one sent out to you.

Thanks for you help. I have some one coming from London so I will get them to pick me up one and hand carry it out. Posting things to Egypt is more hassel then its worth, customs somtimes want up to 200% of the value if thay don't know what it is. Are all the R.C's the same or dose it depend on what sort of box i have?

No they're all the same, there are also some companies doing some really good deals, some for the remote alone and some for the remote and TV link.

Rolf

PS. You didn't say whether you still have the spectacular rooftop view.

No, I have lost the pyrmids view but I have a far bigger place with a pool and no Mosque next door to wake me up at sun rise every morning. Very nice indeed.

Sounds nice, I still think your photo from the roof of your old place with the dish and the pyramids is one of the best I've seen.

Don't want to spoil the party, but they are not all the same.

I bought a Thomson TV, and couldn't get the sky Remote to work it.

I telephoned Thomson and they sent me a new R.C. [for FREE] and it will accept the code for the Thomson TV.

My guess is that some of the older ones didn't have as many codes pre-loaded as the newer ones, so it shouldn't cause a problem if you get a new one.

Regards

W.H.

Cheers WH, I suppose that would stand to reason,. So to sum up, its correct to say that if you buy a new one they are, or at least should be all the same, but an old one may not have all the latest codes.

My T.V is an old one so I don't think it should matter.

Just a thought, does the light blink with any codes? Try something like the Panasonic 0081, its one of the most common, so if there are any that work.......

There are also a lot of 3 digit codes on the sathelp site, it may be worth seeing if your control responds to them.

It works!! Bit of a typo Rolf. I looked at the link you gave me and it said to press the select and the red button at the same time, not the slect and the T.V button.

Any-how, it works now and thanks so much for you help.
Robbie.
