Hi guys..
I've just cancelled my subscription to sky and am wondering now I have the dish and digibox spare can I use it as a FTA box and point it at different satellites..and if so does the card still need to be in the slot or can I use it without the card..also if this can be done does anybody have setup instructions..
thx..

My System: DreamBox 7000s - Nokia Freeview - Several GameBoys - DS Lite - ZX81 - SNES - N64 - Sega Saturn Dreamcast - PlayStation - Gamecube - PSP - iPod - iPhone - XBox - PS3 - Wii - No Life!

I theory you can do this but the sky boxes don't seem like being set up for other services. They freeze a lot and have to be re programmed - now I wonder why that would be?

You don't need a card in the box unless you want to receive the likes of ITV, Channel 4 as they still use the sky encryption. The card will still work after you have cancelled sky for these channels.

A FTA digital box is cheap and you may be best to invest in new one. Once you get bitten you will want one that does all the tricks so think about that before you buay just a FTA box.

My System: Various digiboxes, broken Nokia 9800S, numerous analogue boxes. My lovely little lappy, HP Omnibook 6100

Thee cancelled $ly card has a monetary value for anyone who wants to receive the FTV channels. Try advertising it on e-bay but make it quick before $ly introduce their own FTV card.

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

I would be inclined to sell the box and the card as one unit, then buy a receiver that will work properly on the other satellites.
