Card problem

Hopefully someone can help as I cannot find my manual for my Panasonic
TU DSB30.

My Brother in law has just purchesed the same unit so he can watch UK sky programmes in Sweden, however this is the problem.

Can I check the unit is working before shipping it to Sweden.

When I connect it to my dish and insert my card it comes up with a problem for the card. Does this mean that you can only use one card in one box or is there a way that I can register the card into this box just so I can see it does work?

I suspect this is in the manual

Will I have to do the same again when I transfer back to my box?

Hopefully I have put in the correct forum area

thanks

My System: 1200cc with 100,000,000,000 neurons and 100,000,000,000,000 connections

Any active card should work in any box for non-premium channels (so ITV, Sky1 etc should work)

If the box has not been used for a while the software might be old. Under the services > system info menu what version does it show?

Can you see the card number on the system details page (again under services)? If you can't then either the software is to old (it can be updated) or the card reader is faulty.

more info

I have connected the box back up again and I forgot to say the box does work on BBC1 etc but as soon as I go to ITV it says there is a problem with the card, I have left the system running on BBC to see if there is a time lag etc.

Any help would be appreciated on wher to go next and how I open up the installation system etc.

Does the card still work in your box?

If so then it looks like the card reader of the new box is faulty.

Yes the card works in my original box

so I can only assume that it is the reader

The DSB30 digibox seems to have this fault more than other models, you can make the card thicker as the reader pins may not make full contact with the card surface, but it is often easier to buy another digibox...the DSB30 because of software problems is no longer flavour of the month for use abroad...............

best box

So what is the best box for fringe areas eg Sweden?

I have not tried the thickening of the card yet but will confirm if it works or not

thanks

The best new box is the Pace DS430N. If you can find one, the best box of all time is its predecessor, the Pace 2600C1.

At least, that's the case for this fringe area (the Costa Blanca) where, currently, I can't *give* TU-DSB30s away!
