Sky Subscription

lets say I did not buy my reciever from sky and buy it on my own. Assuming I subscribe to sky and I want to cancel my subscription after a month or two. Are there any penalties or how does it work.
Thx.

A defender of the Remote Control Brigade, Sir R can flick channels faster than a Robben dive

this is from another thread i started a while ago....

to cut a long story short, in 1998 i cancelled sky and threw all the equipment in the bin.... i have received a bill today for £71.17

the reason for the bill is because i cancelled early (i would explain why but its a long story) i signed a 12 month contract...

i cancelled 42 days short of 12 months, i rang them and the option i was given was to re subscribe to a £13.50 p/month for 2 month or pay the £71.17???

so obviously i am having it for 2 more months... they are sending me a viewing card!!

dont you just love sky..... only taken them 7 years to work it out, i wouldnt mind i still live in the same house, so its not like they couldnt find me.

PS.
at the time of this post i was only going to have to re-subscribe for 2 months... but i now have a letter saying i cant cancel for 6 now...

so in short, if YOU cancel early..... it might cost you more and you could end up being forced to have sky for 12 months.

but seeing as your not going to be buying there equipment, i would ring and ask them if its possible to just have a 2 month contract.... i doubt it, but its only a phone call
