Sky Epg 101, 103 In Spain

I'm looking to set up a FTV system at a house near Murcia airport on Spain's Costa Calida(south Costa Blanca).

I've been told that in southern Spain one can't get ITV1 on 103.....you can only get stuff on vertical polaristaion....and it has to be accessed thru add channels etc...my question is this:

Channel Islands ITV is on V polarisation....and BBC 1 Channel Islands looks like it will go onto V polarisation too.....

So....if one could activate an FTV card in Jersey or Guernsey...then take that card to Spain....101 and 103 would get BBC1 and ITV1 automatically...is my theory right or am I being naive?!!

well the card is based on the postcode of the house that has the card sent to it, so if you get a card where you know the bbc/itv regions will be vertical then yes that will work ok.

ITV other regions available by adding channels as per below-:

Manual Tuning

To access the extra channels, you need to add them to the "Other Channels"
section of the Digibox "Services" menu.

Bring up the Services menu and choose option 4 for System Set-up then 4 again
for Add Channels. Type in the frequency as shown in below, together with the
polarity letter either H or V. For Astra transponders 1 to 40 leave the
Symbol rate 22000 and FEC 5/6 at their default values.Choose Find Channels and the
list of channels being broadcast by that transponder appears. Highlight the
name and press the yellow button for all the ones you wish to add to your
list. Pressing the Select button saves your choices; your selected channels
will now be available under the "Other Channels" option in the Services
menu. You can save up to 50 channels in this fashion

That would appear to be the only fly in the ointment Andyb, AFAIK they are no longer issuing FTV cards (unless the CI are a special case) and even if you get hold of one that has been issued to a Channel Island address, you will probably no longer be able to activate it.

So you would need to find one that is no longer needed, but has been activated.

My System: 4 systems. In Scotland Sky with Pace 2600C1. In Costa del Sol 1.3 meter offset with Inv quad 0.3 LNB with pace 2600C1. In Algarve 1.5 fixed Inv Quad LNB with 4 Pace 2600C1 also 80cm dish with Inverto 0.2db monoblock LNB 19.2E/13E and TM_5400C1+ USB

I have a system in the Costa del Sol and I get STV on ch103. STV is on the same frequency as Chan Islands. I do not believe that your first premise that you cannot get BBC! 0n 101 and ITV on 103 in southern Spain is correct

Hi,

We are in Southern Spain(70k East of Malaga) and receive all BBC channels,ITV,C4,C5 with no problem using a 1.2 metre dish both on the older type viewing card and the new dark blue card. The banner warning about loss of channels hasn't been seen for 2 weeks, and on the dark blue card it was never seen a all.

The only problem we have noticed is that C4 tends to break up a little between 20-2200 most evenings,

I've just picked up a Sky eliptical digi mesh dish that is 70cm across with a Grundig lnb on it. Is there any chance of picking up Sky in Southern Spain (south of Granada) with this??

We live on the coast 70K East of Malaga and use a 1.3 metre dish which is the very minimum for this area, friends have tried a 1.2 metre and they cannot receive C4/5,even with a 1.3 dish we lose it occasionally during low cloud or stormy weather

you'll need a much bigger dish, at least 1.5 to be sure of a decent reception.
regards.

I am in Estepona and I get everything with a 1.3 dish, except in heavy rain which doesn´t happen here all that often
