A Sky card can work in a Dragon CAM, yes.
The question is - keep-alives....IMO they don't work. So after x weeks, the card dies and has to go back into *something* to bring it back to live - that something is a Sky box or a Dreambox running newcamd emu.

I think he gathered that, HD stations right now do not decode with legit HD subs, yet decode Standard Def stations.

I can hear audio from one HD SKY promo but nothing else on my regular SKY sub with a Dragon inside my HD Tuner

I forgot to mention that there are copies of the robbie williams concert in HD (amongst other things) floating about on the net, that were pulled from a sky HD stream supposedly using a dragon cam with a new hex or slightly modified hex. THAT is what I'm trying to get my hands on !!!!! :-)

As soon as that starts happening regularly, Sky will go for the Dragon cam big time. Guaranteed.

A few tweaks of the encryption algorithms from Sky and it could be months before a dragon can be used again....

How would they do this? The SKY Subscription card has all the keys which can be kept updated as long as you put it into your Sky Digibox every 4 to 6 weeks. The SKY CAM is embedded into the digibox's motherboard. I can't see how they could re-program the CAM appart from using the modem/telephone line to access your digibox.

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

They can easily upgrdade the operating system via satellite and probably also change the way the card responds to other CAMs.

The problem they have, is that they still need to make sure that it works well with the digiboxes, but I'm sure that they are actively working on solutions to prevent use of non-Sky receivers and CAMs, not the least to prevent card sharing.

I understand that you still need a valid subscription and that you will need to update the card in a sky box. Question is does this have to be a sky HD box? or can you update via a standard box and pay the extra to have the HD channels and then only view them on a PC?

My System: dreambox 7000s w/160 Gb hdd superjack dg120 diseqc motor lidl 80cm dish and lnb

Im thinking about getting one those TTs3200 cards and was wondering would a system like this be any use to view HD content? ( with a better graphics card )

Dell Dimension E520 Core 2 Duo Processor E6300 (1.86Ghz, 1066MHz, 2MB
Memory: 1024MB DDR2 533 [2*512]
Hard Disk Drive: 250GB 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive
Video: Video card ATI Radeon X1300 Pro 256MB DVI/VGA output with 1xS-Video Output

How do you use the dragon cam with a pc?

I know it wouldnt be much use, but would it be possible to use a sky hd card with a dreambox and dragon cam, and then share this with gbox or something with your TTs3200 card in your pc?

PC specs are borderline I think, should be OK with a bit of tweaking.
You will have to wait for the Dreambox 8000 if you want to watch sky HD on one.

My System: 1.2m CM, 36v Positioner, DB7020Si. Diablo, CAS3+

I have the E6400 but also a Geforce 7950GT.

Plays the downloaded HD stuff brilliantly.

You'll need a hardware accelerated graphics card with HDCP enabled for ideal future proof (Blu-Ray / HD-DVD) which generally means geforce 7950 and above.

Download some content from alt.binaries.hdtv or even the free HD clips that are about (mariposa tv) and give your kit a try, it'll be hte h264 content that'll be the killer.

hth

For me personally I am waiting for the Ideal solution, there is something weird about UK HD that seems to make it more CPU intensive than our european counterparts !! There are only 2 programs worth considering at the moment for use with a TT S3200, they are DVBviewer and ALTDVB !!

1) DVB viewer is excellent however it strugles to decode UK HD perfectly smoothly it is so close and yet not quite there !! hopefully soon to be fixed.

2) Alt DVB again excellent, no where near as many bells and whistles just a straight forward excellent ppiece of decoding software, which using the same HD codec (Core AVC) as DVB viewer does an excellent job of decoding UK HD and apart from the odd software crash. It allows me to watch BBC HD flawlessly unfortunatly this s/ware DOES NOT currently support using a viewing card, so no SKY here. however the author has assured me the next release will support viewing cards !! this is good news

I have a 3.2GHz P4 prescott Oc/d to 3.6Ghz
and an ATI X1300 with 512 MB ram !!

Does ProgDVB or DVBViewer not support the use of different h264 filters, so as ones with hardware acceleration?

Prog DVB crashes on H.264 so is out for me !!

Both DVB viewer and ALTDVB support whatever H.264 codec you have loaded but as an ATI owner Core AVC is by far the best for me !!! cybelink is waaaayyyy behind

I tried to reply to your mail but your blocking return PM's !!!

You need a dragon cam, even one of the older cheaper ones works fine, (anything running predator 3.54 and up will be fine). it worked quite well includinr recordings with DVB viewer, but im just about to get into the vistaTV software, info is thin on the ground at the mo but it seems an excellent way to integrate my DVB s3200 and dragon cam into vista MCE.

PS you will need a HD subbed card

hi thx for gthe reply, hmm didnt know it was blocking pms
i got the s3200 this wweek along with the CI expansion, i'm pretty sure i ordered vistatv with it also but it never came, missing that cable that connects the CI to the tv card. from dvbshop

i'm trying to use vista64 mce aswell but i dual booted with XP to see which is better for it.

i have Sky HD aswell full package, so the subbed HD card isnt a problem.

i will need to order one of these dragon cams but i was reading some other stuff and some recommend the T-Rex or a Diablo, got me confused somewhat heh
