The cband lnb was waiting for me when i came in to night just has a little play with it just used a roll of tape to tape the lnb to the dish and pulling in badr-c 26'e no problem at all and 22'w also 27.5w and 40 east i will take some pics tomorrow of the dish when it is light and post some screen shots as well i will also try some more satellites and set the lnb up proper as it is taped on the dish at the moment and i only got in 30 min ago,

Hello!
better,is you use your prodelin 1,80 m dish,for cband !
1,20 m,is defenatly to small,for,most of cband satelites,on 40,5 west you got some transponder badr 3 strong 26 e and also the yamahl @ 49 east,but all others,here in europe,are weaker 1,80 m,up to 2,40m,are the optimal size,to catch the rest!
with 1,20m,maybe you have signal on telecom satelite 8w,and thats all, better then nothing, but, not that ,what you looking for !

look@ footprint list on lyngsat site, maybe, some cband satelites ,are not so strong in uk,then in central europe
i dont know, maybe then 2,40meter is the optimal size!

also some thaicom transpoders posible, not thaicom 2,this sat,is at the moment, lost in signal strenth 2,5 db,in wintertime it goes better,no complty gone and you need 3. m dish, all other satalites are okay with 2,4 m

You are missing the point when you say a 1.2m is to small for c-band that is the whole point of the experiment to see what could be picked up with a small dish,

My prodelin is back in the box it came is as im due to move home very soon i work as a broadcast engineer and we have a trade account with prodelin, Prodelin dishes are easy to get hold of and they ship world wide but my dish did not cost me any thing,

I had another play about last night also keep in mind i just taped the prime lnb-f to a offset dish and 40.5w is no problem at all very strong I am not after any channels i just wanted to see how well the lnbf worked on a small offset dish,

Once i move i will install my 1.8m prodelin and buy a new prime focus dish aswell for c-band only

Turok, 78.5E is out of reach from the UK since below their horizon. It's even very hard to catch in the Benelux or western Germany and Switzerland. And as you say, to have proper reception one should at least start with 2.40m. May i remind you that there is somebody west of Frankfurt using a 3.70m for this position ?

I am very curious to see the results of small dish hunting in the UK. Also if there are any differences in between England, Scotland, Ireland and Iceland.

Not a chance my friend as the beam is pointing directly over the American continent I'm afraid.

There are some dishes in Germany from 1.50m upwards that get this frequency and much more. Just have a look here please: http://www.satclub-thueringen.de/wbb...?threadid=5027

In Portugal you should have little easier reception conditions.

Turok 40.5W is stronger in the iberian peninsula. I saw some reports on a spanish board before. They are starting with 1.20m. But even if this is the case, it depends on how well the feed suits to the dish you are using. In any case even in Portugal i wouldn't go below 1.80m, better 2.40m for guaranteed reception.

Ok. You should also consider
55.5W: http://www.lyngsat.com/intel805.html
58W: http://www.lyngsat.com/intel9.html

I am not sure if 1.80m would suffice for these positions but you would need a motor.

Before you buy anything better ask in the portuguese section to be sure.
