Kenyan TV

I live in the Uk and I really don't know much about the settings up of dishes. Can I get help ?
First, Is it possible to get any Kenyan channel in the UK ?
If so how many ?
What does it take ?
And finally how much will it cost ?

My System: Sky UK. FTA analogue & digital satellite from 6 fixed dishes (5E/7E/9E/10E/13E/16E/ 19E/23E/28E) Pace MSS100, Echostar IP3000VA, Technomate TM-1000D, Dreambox 7020S

KTN is available in C-band off 5W, which will require a biggish dish and some specialised equipment - C-band kit isnt as common as Ku-band kit in Europe due to the dish sizes required

Nostalgy

I'd really would love to be one of the blogger on this address but the bug is that it's in 'Ich nie bidish' ! I had to 'Ashtung' ! Just kidding, probably realized I don't know much of the language.

Should I take it as there is only one channel available and will have to prepare to spend more than I would for any other country on equipments(1.8m dish and specialist for set up ?

I've been warned that the dish could go up to 1.8m for me to stand any chance of getting the slightest signal. Would you know anyone who knows a better(smaller and cheaper equipement)way ?
P.S. Did I say please

Smaller it cannot be, you cannot defeat the laws of physics if you want it you will have to have at least that size.

As regards cheaper, well if you belong to the cheep and cheerful brigade then you will only heap misery on yourself

Hi Mbona,
Since this dishes come in fixed sizes you actually need a 1,8m dish minimum,
or even bigger if you can and have a place to place it.
The EIRP is 38 - 39 and the minimum size for that on C band is 125cm which is inviting problem, as we never go for minimum incase or rain fade etc but max 180cm(1.8m). thats what we use even back down at home (Kenya), in areas where we cannot get terrestrial reception.

If it has disappeared it might take a few days for some of the sites to pick it up - C=-band equipment is unusaul in Europe.

My System: CKD 12 (3,66m)

Hello JOHN896,

KTN is still on Atlantic Bird 3 @5°W on 3657 R 2894 3/4 (LyngSat). Signal is 9dB and 81% with Openbox X-810 and 366cm.

It´s possible to get this channel even with 150cm and Waveguide. With 180cm there should be no problem at all to get this signal.

Best Regards
Edgar.

dx qwer, that's awesome!

If you've a motorized dish, please click here _http://www.lyngsat.com/intel903.html and post screen shots of KBC Channel 1, KTN and NTV (Kenya) all Kenyan TV Channels.

By the way, anyone with any idea why those channels are being beamed in that part of the globe yet TV via C-Band for home users is rare and very few Kenyans living there are even aware of their existence let alone can have the space to mount those big dishes?

Hello Chit Chat,

Kenyan mux on 3895 L 8594-5/6 @Intelsat 903 34,5°W is even with 12ft Mesh very hard to get. I never have stabile signal here with 366cm. The signal on this frequency of TP 53 is very weak here! Signal is between 1,5-2,5dB and < 24% with Openbox X-810 Receiver. Only with >3,5dB and >26% you can look these kenyan channels.

In my location I would need >450cm for 24/7 good signal.

Best Regards
Edgar.

Well,The Waveguide AV-Comm Polariser came from
Germany today.So i have that a Panorama 13k C-Band Lnbf and a, C-Band Offset Trichterfeedhorn.So i put it all together,put the dish on 5WEST.And was amazed by,the signal i got 97% on the R and 82% on the L.There was only one transponder,which was down a bit 3656 R 2894 Ktn Kenya,which came in at 58% for some reason.
