Quite Pleased with myself - ERTU

Hi friends..
Probably no big deal to you guys ...but I managed to pull pictures from ERTU

4180 L
tp 88
21050-3/4
Intelsat 10-02 at 1.0°W

tonight ..
This beam isn't partcularly strong for me ..but careful tweaking of my 1.8m dish pulled the transponders.
but I was confused as to why fta signals were producing no images..
..until I realised they are 4.2.2 feeds

Switching to Elecard codec in Dvbviewer and changing the render mode got me a result ...
Not stable for long..and sadly occasionally crashes the pc ..
..but stayed long enough to get some photo's.
I really could use some method of taking direct images on the pc ..without resorting to grabbing my camera..
any suggestions ?

Nice result Viperscan.

In DVBViewer, click on View. If Screenshot is greyed out, make sure in Settings > Options > DirectX that your Video Renderer is not in overlay.

Thanks for the hint ....
In this case though ..it may not have helped ..
The most 'stable' way I could receive the 4.2.2 transmission ...was to select overlay ..
cheers

Good luck Nelson ..
I hope you get a result..

Its certainly a curious thing with C-band ..

I can get enough signal from ERTU to pull the transponder data ..
..but not possible from American Forces Network

granted they are left and right polarity ...but both have the same footprint according lyngsat..
I guess its not about footorint ..but more about the power the transpnder on that footprint can ddeliver..
In other words ..dont use the footprint info as reliable & accurate.

Don't know what video card you have, but with my NVidea card, I use the options shown here, and have no problem with 4:2:2 feeds without overlaying.

hi --
got finished work early today-- and made a few fine adjustments --
just and so getting the ERTU transponder now -- lots of picture break up and freezing though --

only-- Al Masriyah USA is in 4.2.2. i think,
as i,m seeing the others as broken pictures on my vantage reciever ( not connected the C band l.n.b to my skystar 2 yet )

not a hint of anything else with a "global " footprint -

this weak signal is useful for fine tuning my setup - l.o.l.
