Setanta CAM - schoolboy error?

So I've received a Setanta CAM and its TopUpTV card, as I ordered Setanta on the Freeview set-up option.

I thought id be able to use the CAM and card in any digital satellite receiver? Am I right in thinking the card and maybe the CAM used for Digital TV (DVB?) reception differs from that used for satellite reception, and hence no Setanta channels are working?

The setanta cam will only work in dtt boxes.

Also, the encryption syatems are different - DTT uses seca, satellite uses nds videoguard.

shame

ok thanks. looks like id better cancel my subscription then!

and for my NDS Freesat card, that I've had for 5 months or so doing nothing (as I have no CAMs)? Any idea how I play this one? I'm guessing either a Dragon CAM or.......... getting a second hand Sky Digibox off Ebay?

In fact, am I able to take an old digibox apart and get the NDS CAM out easily and put it in my sat receiver? Probably not!!

dragon

Now here's where the confusion comes in to play.

Do I not need to somehow keep the Freesat card 'alive' by putting it into a digibox every couple of months? Or is that only for NDS cards with subscription services rather than just FTV?

If i do get a Dragon CAM for my 1st CI slot, any suggestions for the second CI slot?

I need one of these right? Ebay.de/T-REX-CAM-4-1-CI-Modul-Firecrypt-Dragon-Module-100839_W0QQitemZ150214657239QQihZ005QQcategoryZ15067QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem" target="_blank">http://cgi.Ebay.de/T-REX-CAM-4-1-CI-...QQcmdZViewItem

plunge

so i ordered a sky subscription and box last night. ive asked for it to be delivered to my parents as im working abroad at the moment.

sky insisted an engineer deliver the box. he wont insist on trying to install the thing will he??? ive asked my parents to say im waiting for a large satellite to be delivered as i also want foreign channels as part of my set up etc. that i dont know which room i want it installed in, and that ill install it myself.

either that or to say its a present for someone. not sure how to plays this as yet.

and does it really need to be connected to a phone line? if so, what for?
