Got diablo cam - got a lot of problems.

Received today package of 2 units of diablo wifi's and cas3+ programmer from *****.

Updated both with UW169, and latest keys (have no idea if they were latest, got them on certain dvb upload, all forums require registration).

And faced big problems - all scrambled or c/s ed channels got pixelation and sound problems, when diablo is inserted. I've researched on internet, and found that this may be my receiver failure:

The 2nd one is, I'm not getting anything from 5E and 19.2E I should getting, except VH1. What I may be doing wrong?

All that is avalable on 5E are a couple of Hustler porn channels on 12111 H 27500.
Providing you have loaded the updated Underworld 169 Data bin file you should be able to open a few MTV channels, Conax encrypted, 11973 V 27500,11739 V 27500.
Try selecting a different CAID option to cure your pixelation problem.
Enter the Cams menu, and the following sub menus:
Underworld 169
Configuration
CAIDS.

Try different CAID options and see if the picture improves.

from 5E I was expecting davinci channels - arqiva feed opened by emu already nice

But I think it's not caid related as soon as I insert CAM into receiver, picture on ALL channels get pixelatted and sound dropping

I think all that opens is Da Vinci Learning on 5E, but I haven't personally bothered with it.
With Underworld 170 you now also get all the Irdeto 2 encrypted channels from Canal Digitaal on 19E:

Only the channels encrypted using Irdeto 2, not the whole package, but that still opens most of them.

It's not the receiver (well not as far as the main board). The CI slot design - usually twin CI receivers - has rarely followed the original specifications for PCMCIA connection. As a result some modern modules can exceed the demands of certain receivers and the current draw can affect the performance of other parts of the machine, (in your case, the picture).
Try the CAM on a channel on another polarity, or other frequency band. If the problem goes away, then you know it is down to the CAM drawing the power supply rails down and needs to be looked at to prevent damage.


I have also found that swopping the CI port may help, but also some CAMs from a batch work fine when others don't, so it could be a quality issue from the supplier.

I've flashed my receiver with latest test firmware (out only yesterday) and there are some positive changes - If before just plugging CAM into receiver caused ALL (emu or c/s) channels to pixelate, now only channels opened by CAM are pixelated, and pixelation is significantly lower (at least I can see what channel I'm watching now), but still, unwatchable. This is confirmed Octagon SF918 problem - support says that they will fix it since december, but no results so far.

For comparison, today I went to flea market and sourced old SilverCrest SL65CI for $20 - Diablo in it works just fine.

The power consumption idea is really interesting - I'll just open my receiver, connect multimeter and oscilloscope and measure actual voltages.

Just for curiosity, I've rotated my dish to 1W today - Diablo clears digi tv OK! No pixelisation or problems at all. So it seems that the problem is with 19.2E package. Next weekend I'll try to tune to 7E, and check euro1080...

Are you able to get the Canal Digital package, on 1W, as well as Digi TV?

Unluckily no, from the Thor I can receive only T2 beam, in which are HD channels broadcast, but weather is bad today, so signal is too weak for DVB/S2.

Now I've tuned dish to 7E, but can't get picture of euro1080. Which settings I should select in diablo to make them work? (I have latest underworld 1.70 and keys file was updated 3-4 days ago).

Euro 1080 keys are contained in the Data bin file but I'm not sure if they're still working.

Just reflashed the card - now euro 1080 works, but it's even worse than mtv package. Because in MTV I can get a picture wich is partially pixellated and sound is ok. on euro1080 I can see only random hi-resolution color blocks and chopping sound.

So verdict - Diablo cam wifi & Octagon SF918HD are not the best friends. Everyone should know this bug, prior buying cam or receiver.

shure... diablo wifi is = a lot of problems, but who as no money to get better solutions, this solution is the cheapper one! ? I´ve got a blody diablo wifi, from hisat, the first arrives domaged, I returned it, and they send me a new one, and it is working with a humax 2000 hdci reciever but... time to time, it does a picture stops in c/s system, having only one c: line with hops 1 and 2, it should be stable, but it is not, it does a lot of picture stops, there is only one whay to minimise it, is: when you whant see a channel, you have to reanitialise a reciever, and wait till the picture opens, and if it opens, dont change a channel, if you do a channel change, starts a picture stops... I´ve got many help from friends till get it working, and now it works not very good, because it does this blody picture stops, but if some friends needs the procedure settings to do the cam works ... I will wrrite it, in all steaps I´m using, if it can help some friends who uses this blody cam as a c/s system only with one line of course !!! I can do it, but as soon as a dream 500 hd appears I will get one, and forgot a diablo wifi .
