emmulator/logger

Can anyone explain to me what an emmulator/logger is used for and how do I use it?

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

An Emulator emulates a card and is connected to the satellite receiver by a season interface, it looks like a pcb smartcard with a connection to the serial port of your computer. The same setup can be used to log the data to and from the card also.
