Card sharing with Sky UK (n00b question)

Hi there.

My dad is getting sky tv into his house,Iis there anyway i can share the card so i can use it in my house?

I have a sky dish and receiver but i dont have sky in.

I know it might work if i just bring his card and put it into my reciever

But is it possible to 'clone' it so we have 'two' one for him and one for me?

Thanks.

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

No it isn't I'm afraid, card build technology has gone way past the possibility of card cloning.

Card sharing is the new card cloning, but involves using non Sky linux based receivers with internet connections and possible card update problems.

No its not possible to clone subscription cards nowadays. It hasnt been for several years.

Basically if you are using Sky boxes theres no way whatsoever to share one subscription card to another place.

Edit - beaten to it

This forum gives you all the info you require. Apart from that a couple of hours with Mr Google should give you some a decent grounding in the info you need.

Nobody here is going to give you detailed info on what to do - we are very careful about how far we go with advice on c/s'ing

If your dads house has a standard 2 meg download or thereabouts connection dont bother - the upload speed is rubbish and not watchable for any length of time. You need somewhere over 500kbps upload with the more the merrier.

You need to know the upload speed, 6.0 is the download speed. Even some connections with 20 megs download only have 256k upload.

C/S works on as little as 1MB download and 128kupload

Also wireless C/S is possible with Diablo wi-fi cam or wireless within 1 household.

We're not talking about CS. That uses no bandwidth. He was asking if his connection upload bandwidth would be suitable for video streaming (Slingbox).

He was asking about options inc C/S AND slingbox if you read all the thread so obviously C/S is his best bet with limited or capped download or upload speeds for most users.
