Hi from Qatar... h*tbird, Sh0wTim* or what?

Hi everybody!

I had to move from work, from NY to Doha, Qatar (in the "Gulf").

I have some testing experience collected in Italy and USA.

Here, I think the only one bouquet offering English channels is Sh0wTime (movies and shows in english!)
Not a lot, but better than nothing!

Please, can somebody give me a start point?
and anybody knows other Sat covering this area?

I think the sat offering Sh0wTim* is Hot Bird, but I do not know the encryption and any other info!

Thank you for your help, see you soon!

My System: Sky UK. FTA analogue & digital satellite from 6 fixed dishes (5E/7E/9E/10E/13E/16E/ 19E/23E/28E) Pace MSS100, Echostar IP3000VA, Technomate TM-1000D, Dreambox 7020S

Showtime is on the Nilesat birds at 7W. Its encrypted in Irdeto 2 which means its not hacked.

You want = you pay.

The Orbit operation off Arabsat 3A also covers your area, and requires a dedicated receiver, so again

You want = you pay.

theres a reasonable amount of English soundtracks present

Sky UK is just about out of range for you.

Analoguesat,
THANK you for you efforts!

..but I have to tell you that here someone is "offering" receivers or card to see english channels, so there is something we are missing...

..so you think that to see for Hot Bird was a wrong suggestion?

I hope to know more soon!

thank you very much!

what kind of encryption FTA Ird are able to "test" so far?

Would you suggest the Ird Coolsat 4000 (even if it is expensive!) or what?

I will be in NY for a couple of days, (at home!!!) in october, so I can try purchasing all what I need for "testing" (Ird and what more?) when in USA!!

bye, thank you again!

best regards

Depends how big a dish your 'employers' are willing to put up with really regarding what is available to you . There are several compromised encryptions at present, but you are on the edge of the footprint for them. So the important (and probably expensive) thing is the antenna.

HI Lancelot!

Here in Qatar, so far, it's really difficult to find dishes bigger than 1 mt.
Probably because for their needs, in Qatar, a dish 80 cm big is enough!

Usually here everybody wants to receive arabsat, nilesat and hotbird.

So I will buy and install 3 of the "bigger" family (1 mt about).

I hope I gave some useful detail to got the "picture" of the situation!

I wait, if possible, to know what encryption I will able to "test" with a FTA Ird, and the one you guys , would suggest me to buy .

Thank you! ;-) ;-)

Best regards

Pehla Silver

Hi Dear Rodriguez

Good Afternoon

I think on Nilesat 7W there is one more Package (Pehla Silver)
which shows very nice Movies in English and there rates are
very nominal (Dirhams 129 per month) which could be approx.
QR.127 PM (they broadcast from Jordan). Could be tuned all
over the Asia (I assumed). The Service Provider is ADD (Arab
Digital Distributors).

Good luck!

Regards
