Question Samsung DSR9500 - Not recognizing Funcard

Hi ,

I`ve just become a member on the forum and have just acquired
a USB Infinity programmer with Fun card 5.
I was hoping that some of you clever guys out there could help me out
with a problem I`ve got.

I have a Samsung 9500 VIA CI which I`ve patched with software version 118 giving the 5 in 1 patch.

I`ve managed to program the funcard OK to get ABSAT channels using the file `2ndfun5in1v1.20_Jula_AU_18.06.2003.`
After unzipping , this comes with a flash.hex file ,
`eprom_integral.hex` file and a `eprom_by_jula.hex` file.
All these load into the funcard5 via the Infinity USB programmer
with no problem. After I insert the card in the Samsung9500 it recognises the card as a Mediaguard card OK.

My problem is when I try using a different 6in1 file.
I downloaded the file off Phillsfiles.com. It is called
`davem_fun_6in1_030703.zip`.
After unzipping it it and reading the readme.txt it looked like the
files should work with a Samsung9500.

The files that I loaded onto the funcard5 were :
`flash_6in1_v4.3.hex` into the flash area of the card.
`eeprom_H_030703.hex` into the external eprom area of the card
I left the internal eeprom area blank.

Unfortunately the Samsung does not recognize the card and when I go into
the card information menu on the Samsung whereas it said mediaguard on the `2ndfun5in1v1.20_Jula_AU_18.06.2003.` files it now says
`no card` with the davem_fun_6in1_030703 files

Does anybody know why the samsung is not recognising the card.

Do I need a different type of card - eg Gold or silver ?
Do I need a different CAM.Eg Irdeto - as I understand that a lot of the
5 in 1 files operate via irdeto somehow.

I was under the impression that the 5in1 patch allowed the Samsung to
recognise : Viaaccess ,conax , Seca Mediaguard , Nagro.
I`m not sure if it does the irdeto. Does anybody know ?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Its all a bit confusing at the moment but I hope to get my head around it in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks in advance for any help.

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

Although I have no experience with the patched Sammy, is there a CAM menu in which you can select different modes for the CAM, it certainly sounds as if you have used the correct procedure with the Dave M files, but may also be worth trying the Xamuh files, they are set up specifically for the Sammy.

Yes,your samsung can decrypt Viaccess channels.if your samsung is patched it can

decrypt alot of channels.(load your receiver with samsung EMU) or load a silver card

with bbaio files (6in1) insert the card into the embedded cam.

Ps-insert the card into the embedded cam correctly, the chip downward..

(power OFF/ON)

Load the latest via..files works fine on fun card.

Good luck

Good luck
