If the direct Tv you are talking about is the one available in the USA, then the correct correct card to use is the HU card and to program, u need the HU loader

For dish network, you need either the ROM 2, ROM3, ROM 10 or ROM 11. But to start off with, the ROM 3 is the best for beginners.
U need an ISO programmer with a 3.86 crystal.

My System: Sky HD, TM6800HD, Manhattan Plaza ST550 and TM1500 CI+. 1.0m dish and 36v motor, Panasonic DVD HDD recorder and Panasonic video/DVD recorder. Sony G800 HD TV stand/surround system + Sony KDL40W2000. Infinity USB, Elvis, CAS1, CAS2.

I believe it's 3.68 rather than 3.86. Take a look here http://www.programhucards.com/iso-programmer.html
