Don't know how many terabytes the download will be but Computer Shopper magazine gave a a card which can be exchanged for an SP1 DVD.

...Or you could just wait. Microsoft say that the SP will be downloaded at appropriate times, presumably as part of Windows update.

It's OK I have just had an extension put on my barge pole Hopefully that will ensure I do not touch it indeed I will not be going near it for at least 12 months more.

You can load non-microsoft software onto a system anyway, it's called the "Chuck Vista in the bin and use XP or Linux instead" method...

It's very likely that you have an illegal copy of Vista. Go back to the place that sold it to you.

If you didn't buy it then I think you may have to reinstall Vista as I don't think that the system restore point works to remove SP1. If you haven't made any backups then you will lose all your data.

If you have to reinstall then I suggest you disable automatic updates. This may cause problems in the future though.
