Rs232 Serial Cable

hi im having problems with a rs232 cable im using it to patch a reciever. the instructions it came with are not that good. it say its fully wired 9 pin connection female to female. the cable looks identical to my null modem cable that i use for my dreambox. and im not sure if its the right cable for the job. so the question is. do i use a 9 pin female to female fully wired serial cable for patching a technomate reciever. i know this has been covered before but i can not find it many thanks

The cable needs to be a null-modem cable.

With the a null modem some of the pins are swapped for example pin2 on one end goes to pin 3 on the other.

The Technomate manual has a pinout of the minimum requirements of the cable, and it is:-

1-1
5-5
2-3
3-2.

Female connection on both ends,.

same problem

GOOD MORNING,

The manufacturers of these null serial cable never mention whether it is a straight through or a cross-over cable, the public buys first and test
when one gets back home.

Do you know of any brand of these null modem cable where identification
0f 9 pin f/9 pin f straight or cross-over has been mentionned.
Not every one has the facility to make one by oneself.or order one from
sales point where they can make one and deliver the next day.

Thank you for any assistance you may bring.

Best Wishes,
yours respectfully,
kadnor

I buy all my computer cables from Belkin especially because they tell you in the package the contents details.
But once you take it out from the plastic box, you must attach a label saying it is a null modem cable.

Yes, the USB-serial cables are wired straight.

To be honest, I always order this type of thing online and it is usually made clear whether the cable is straight or if it is a null-modem.
