How to open a blister pack without injuring yourself?

I put this post under computer discussion, as most of my encounters with these horrid packages comes from buying computer accessories like cables, etc.
I always fall into the trap of how good they look in the shops, buy the pack and then struggle with it at home until I get the inside parts out.
Opening such a pack is a nightmare. I thought that there is an intellegent way to open it, but I can't figure it out.
I usually use a knife (and pray that I wouldn't cut my fingers), or a pair of scissors, but it is not an easy job.
So unless someone can show me the correct way to open it, I am going to buy heavy duty pair of scissors next time I go shopping.
There should be a law against selling these packs. They are also environment unfriendly.

I just use a pair of very sharp kitchen scissors, and just cut round the main object, only takes a minute.

With a knife, you slice your fingers.
Without anything to cut the plastic with, these things are impossible to open, I hate them too, but at least you know that nothing will be missing and it hasn't been tampered with by some other 'shopper'

I get loads of these at work - I use a sharp stanley knife. The plastic is normally type 1 and goes into the plastic recycling bag

Thanks for all the replies. Now I am sure that I am not the only one.
I think that I will adopt Robbo's method and buy a sharp kitchen scissors, as I don't get along with knives and the shops will never agree to open it for me.
Did a search this morning and found out that there are at least two gadgets to cope with them, they cost about $10 in the USA, the Pyranna and OpenX.

I particularly like the scissors shown on this page, at $28

Wonder if they package it also in a blister pack?

If you know of any other gadgets , please post here.
