I use the Google Language Tools quite frequently, mainly to translate text. _http://www.google.com/language_tools The Translate text box has by default Spanish >> English I tried to change this default to something else in the Preferences, but this text box is not covered there. Also other boxes like: Search across languages Translate a web page seem to have Spanish by default. Am I missing something or do I have to live with this default? | ||

My System: IDD CI24 ECONO MM Penta 1.20 Galaxy II 1.2Mtr Polar MTG yes it has been on the arc for 21 years and is still driven by a modified wiper motor from a Ford Anglia. It's like me sometimes groans but always performs  Saved us from the black plague of ignoratio elenchi, he awaits a special badge with jugs |
I have similar frustrations with Google maps and have been trying for two years to get it corrected, for my postal code it displays a completely fictitious town name and no matter whom I contact, it never gets corrected | |||

| Thanks Topper for confirming that the defaults can't be changed. If this helps, there are country specific Google. You can setup a Google Portuguese as a favorite and you get the first search box Portuguese >> English But the text box (what I usually need), you have English >> Albanian !!! _http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=pt-PT | ||

As you say HB there are the country specific pagges but like you I want the text box instead of using the drop down window every time, never mind one day they will get round to it so I'll give them this to spur them on | ||

| Here is a work around for you, after using an htm editor and changing the defaults in the selection boxes. Extract the zip file (htm+logo) and when you open the htm page, it has the three boxes selected Portugues >> English. | ||
