Flash menu doesn't launch program

A friend has a CD that came with a Que book which when inserted in the drive launches a menu in a flash window. 2 of the options work but the third one which is supposed to install a demo version of the software (Adobe) now opens a new window in a browser showing the 2 folders - one for Win and one for Mac. Presumably some security setting has changed preventing a script from running? Anyone suggest what to check? He's running XP with SP2

Well

I would double click on the windows folder and find the setup.exe file and then run that. I have to say my XP SP III on both PC and laptop have been doing very odd things lately after a microsoft update. Being a very suspicious person I have wondered if recent updates are nobbling security settings in the hope that people will spend yet more money on upgrading. I just had a warning on the RD website saying they were trying to install malicious software and my laptop this morning refused to come out of hibernation altogether having begun to get slower and slower since the last updates.

Thanks again Topper. I did have my suspicions! He thinks it may have started doing it when his PC upgraded to IE8. He's suggesting restoring to factory defaults which may fix it.....for a couple of weeks!!!

The Sleepy Hollow pollracle has spoken!

Some flash menus aren't that well written, and the creators might have just been lazy and set it to open up a folder allowing you to pick whether you want to install Mac or Windows software as the Flash system probably can't tell the difference between the two...

You can test it on another system, but it's likely to do the same...
