This is somewhat related to the subject: Sometimes you discover a virus or Trojan has infected a file and you cannot delete it. My antivirus software tells me that it cannot quarantene this, and tha I need to restart the computer to delete it. But the file always stays. So, the solution is this program called Unlocker. Is easy to use, look also at the website to see how it works:

Happy deleting!

Also use Spybot and Ad-aware
I have to disagree. I have a virus on my pc now, which I can not remove. I've tried Spybot, and it didn't even detect. AVG couldn't detect it either.

I tried AVast, and that detected it but c0uldn't remove it. I'm still hunting.

Depends what you got, is it as virus or a trojan?? Also, a spyware program such as spybot or adaware are not really for getting rid of viruses.
If it is a trojan, then you got to try a trojan remover. Let us know what you got, and then we can point you to the right program.

Just to update the free firewall list, I have been using Comodo firewall pro for a few months now, and would recommend it

Thanks for your swift replies. And I have got rid of the browser hijacker and the trogen (err bad spelling, ).

The program I used was Hijack This 2.02. It does a swift scan, taking less than one minute. Lists a load of things that could be the problem, asks you to finds the one you want and delete it. And it works a treat.

Cheers.

Seriousy, we are lucky the event in ancient history did not happen in China, and instead of a horse they would have used some bird...you would then have a malicious Peking Duck on your computer
