Blue Note - History of Modern Jazz

I don't suppose someone recorded this tonight (Sky Arts)? Or could record it next time they show it?

Thanks

Coincidentally I hope to see Ron Carter at the Blue Note next month

Damn, didn't know it was on. I recorded it on tape when it was shown on the ARTS channel (pre Sky Arts).

Will keep a lookout for the next screening.

Lucky man. A great bassist. Have him on many CDs and vinyl.

My System: Motorised dish, dvd players and recorders; a freeview box, broadband, VCRs, four TVs, mobiles, pcs, a mac, Ipod, digital cameras...the lot!

Jazz always reminds me of my mother making the family baits early in the mornings. In thos days ,when I was a kid, the only music found on the radio at 1am was jazz music.

If you could record it for me would much appreciate it.

OK chaps, no Sky+, so I'll try to remember to set the TD to Arts before retiring

Thanks Jimbo - just checked the Arts site. More broadcasts over the next few days, so I'll catch the first part next time round.

Ok Llew let us know if you find out please mate. Actually setting up the recording on Sky arts (HD) led me into seeing that they were showing a gig from 2004 which was to celebrate the good old stratocaster guitar. Loved it.

Another great program on Sky Arts- Wim Wender's Martin Scorcese Presents The Blues. It's this series that got me into Skip James, Blind Willie McTell and Blind Willie Johnson (and I don't especially like Blues).

That's one DVD I'd like to have

Yes, it's a seven-part series, and will probably be transmitted over a considerable period of time. The Clint Eastwood segment is being broadcast on the 7th and 9th October.

mhku, you have a PM regarding the Blue Note history DVD.

@jimbo, if you want a copy, PM me.
