My System: Not got a satellite just yet...
Cool History (formerly called The History Channel)

Hello guys,

First, thankyou to Chris for giving me the okay to post this

My name is Rachael and I'm working with the UK version of History to help spread the word about their programmes online.

I'm working on plenty of things, such as the mighty Ice Road Truckers, and crime documentaries on History's sister channel, Crime & Investigation Network.

On tonight at 9pm is Ax Men. Are there any fans here?

There's a great clip from tonight's episode on the official Facebook Page
_http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=176781816928

Any comments/opinions? Are there any other series on History you're into?

Let me know!

Rachael

As it is aired in the UK, it should (just like the Channel 5 repeats) be renamed Axe Men.

Why has History failed in their spelling delivery ?

How about actually showing some programing on subjects of Historical interest?

Tonight's line up:
6pm: Ice Road Truckers
7pm: Ancient Discoveries
8pm: Ice Road Truckers
9pm: Ice Road Truckers
10pm: Jet Stream
11pm: Shootout

Apart from Ancient Discoveries, where is the history?

Hello compufunk,

Everyone has different tastes, and there are many people who like Ice Road Truckers and shows of that type. However, there are still lots of historical shows. Tonight for instance, you can see a series of programes focusing on World Warr II, whilst tomorrow evening, you can see programmes about war in Ancient Rome and the Crusades.

Are there any particular historical shows that you have enjoyed on History?

I would not mind seeing some stuff about the Moesian and Getic-Dacian as well as more about the Hassuna and Samarra cultures.

Yes, I'm sure there are. My point was that they have nothing to do with History. We've already got C5, Sky2, Bravo etc for this type of programing.

When subscribing to Sky packages, History comes under the Knowledge Pack. Although I'm sure that programs like Ice Road Truckers, Tunnelers etc are interesting. I dont really see much educational value in them.

Modern history would be what I'm most interest interested in, so anything related to that subject is good.

Hello guys,

I'll make sure to mix my updates here with highlights of the more historical content available on the channel.

For those who DO like it, Ax Men is on tomorrow at 9pm The first episode is online, if anyone wants to catch up: _http://www.history.co.uk/videos.html

Tonight, there is an excellent documentary recounting a History competition winners journey through the wreck of the Titanic. There's some incredible, never before seen footage of ship there, so definitely one to watch!

I've got the original "family pack" - now called "6 pack" ? I gather you're asking about the Sky version, as I also get the TV Vlaanderen one on 19E.

This might not be common knowledge, but History has a sister channel called the Crime & Investigation Network. No prizes for guessing what type of shows are on it

Tonight is the final episode of Living With Murder, a sensitive look at how a family deals with the murder of someone close to them, what happens after the police have gone and the investigation is closed.

If anyone is interested in real life crime stories, you can catch it tonight at 9pm.

She's brilliant, definitely a fan favourite!

As you may or may not know, this year marks the 40th anniversary of the British Army’s arrival in Northern Ireland. In remembrance History is broadcasting a special documentary: Soldiers' Stories. Several British soldiers recount their stories of working within Northern Ireland during the troubles. It is important and compelling programming.

It transmits on Monday 26th October at 9pm.

Hey guys,

For those into modern history, there's an excellent special on the Berlin Wall coming up next week, named The Rise And Fall Of The Berlin Wall.

It's an excellent programme and a real reminder of how far Germany has come in the last 20 years.

Has anyone here visited the wall?
