Straw Dogs - utter rubbish

My brother watched Straw Dogs when it first came out and he rated it highly. Aside from the fact that the modern DVD has still some cuts to the so-called graphic scenes, as a film Straw Dogs is very poor.

I was hugely disappointed in it. The story is wafer thin. And it’s probably one of Dustin Hoffman’s worst films. I have never rated Susan George as an actress either, as she appears to do just one role, that of the slightly unhinged victim.

After 50 minutes in of Straw Dogs I was still waiting for the story to start. I found it hugely boring and decided to whiz it forward with the picture showing. I fast forwarded about 1 hour 15 minutes in and still nothing worth watching was happening.

The climax of the movie was also very poor. The action and reactions from Dustin were just not up to scratch. He looks like he can’t wait to get the film over with and fly back home. And I don’t blame him. It’s terrible.

This film was apparently banned for years and has never to my knowledge received a UK TV screening. This doesn’t surprise me because it's garbage.

Some may like some may not. To me, it was a wasted rental.
