Poland considers more DTH platforms

Speculation is mounting that Poland could eventually have – like Romania – up to five DTH platforms. Already served by Cyfrowy Polsat, Cyfra+ and n, the market may soon also be joined by services operated by the incumbent telco TPSA and public broadcaster TVP. Local reports indicate that plans for the latter are back on the agenda, with the likelihood of the launch of a service distributed by SES Astra sometime in 2008. The TVP channels TVP1, TVP2 and TVP Sport are already distributed encrypted by the satellite operator, while its regional channel TVP 3, international service TV Polonia and thematic TVP Kultura and TVP Historia are available FTA.
