Pakistan bans sat-dishes

Pakistan has already banned certain news channels from its cable systems. Now dishes are banned too.

Pakistan’s government on November 13 banned the import with immediate effect of satellite dishes, receiving equipment, decoders and other similar satellite reception kit. Pakistan’s ministry of commerce issued an official notification, according to the BBC’s Monitoring Service.

More than 30 channels were banned on November 3 at the start of the current “emergency” in Pakistan. The only content now generally available comes from Pakistani TV channels that can transmit from within the country, and can thus be monitored closely.

The Pakistan Broadcasters Association has already submitted a “humble petition” to General Pervez Musharraf to lift the ban. There are also reports that police have visited hotels and private dwellings and confiscating dishes and reception equipment.

Regards Satdude.

My System: Dreambox DM500 connected to 6MB ADSL Internet, with Gbox on a 1.2 satellite Dish.

Unbelievable my God! I'm a radio announcer and i've been following the story... Looks like Musharraf is just an other dictator... I can't understand why the US aren't doing anything... just like they did in the not so past with Sadam... the dictator!

,yup it posible to block jammers,dr dish explain this ,in an early show!
what india bloks it to,i dont know it...

antenna, must be put in a cage ,wehre, the jamer signals cant pas,coz they are normaly on high freqancys, over a long distace rage,in this example, the use, very fine material, with small holes, and then the jamer signal, will be destraught!,and you can reveive ,the channels, inside the cage!
dont speak technical englisch, hope you understand
does india blocks c and kuband also ?

this method,does not work,when the main jamer signal,is to strong,directly in nabourhood,or whatevery,but mostly,on a normal jamer signal level,it will work,dr dish told,in the past!

can,any one, makes pictures,of the satelite jamer sending station, would be very intresrting how it looks, they must be installed,on a very high point,to block a complete country,10000,.of jammers, like on gsm, sending station, are needed....

when,i try to imagine this.a cold shower, runs, over,my back!
and,it makes my very sad, that in 21 centry, this methods are practised...
