ITV1 unveils dramatic winter lineup

ITV1 has unveiled a drama-focused winter lineup peppered with viewer favourites including Dancing on Ice and Hell's Kitchen.

Speaking at ITV's winter launch, director of television Simon Shaps said that he is looking to introduce "more contemporary ambitious pieces" to sit along side "big mainstream dramas" such as Doc Martin and Kingdom.

Shaps said that the success of drama at 9pm would be essential in ensuring that the much-anticipated revival of News at Ten worked.

He confirmed that key dramas such as Rock Rivals, Echo Beach and Moving Wallpaper will kick off the channel's 2008 lineup.

Among the new dramas ordered are Caught In A Trap, in which Maria winner Connie Fisher stars as an obsessed Elvis fan, and Monday Monday, which follows the story of shop workers who move from London to Leeds.

Other key pickups include Kudos' The Fixer, starring Tamzin Outhwaite, and The Flood, which stars David Suchet and Robert Carlyle and examines what would happen were London to flood.

Other programmes returning to the schedule include RDF's Ladette to Lady, Dancing on Ice, Benidorm and Primeval.
