Tiscali UK looks to stem subscriber losses

IPTV provider Tiscali TV is planning a New Year advertising campaign in a bid to restore the fortunes of its UK network. The company is looking to reach 200,000 households by the end of 2008.

In an interview with Reuters, Mary Turner, chief executive Tiscali UK said the company is currently receiving 250 new registrations per day and it was hoping to reach 50,000 subscribers by the end of 2007. Tiscali has previously reached the 50,000 high water mark, but subscriber levels have fallen back during the year, and the company’s third quarter results recorded just 36,000 subs.

Turner said the company had held back from earlier advertising, because it did not want to repeat the errors of rivals that had begun campaigns before the network was complete.
