BSkyB to buy Amstrad?

The BBC is saying that BSkyB will buy Amstrad for £125 million.

Confirmed by this Stock Exchange announcement:

The Boards of Sky and Amstrad are pleased to announce that they have agreed the terms of a recommended cash offer to be made by Sky Digital Supplies, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sky, for the entire issued and to be issued share capital of Amstrad.

· The Offer is 150 pence in cash for each Amstrad Share, valuing the entire issued share capital of Amstrad at approximately £125.0 million.

· The Offer represents a premium of approximately 23.7 per cent. to the Closing Price of 121.25 pence for each Amstrad Share on 30 July 2007, the last business day prior to the date of this announcement.

My System: Sky+ Pace v3, and before that analouge 80cm dish with Prima by Pace box pointed at 19.2e (not very imaginative then!)

If they stop making crap boxes it'll be a good start

I guess they want to keep everything in house and lower the costs, but I feel that the consumer will have even less choice in choosing their receiver, not that they had any real chance to get the receiver they felt like. Could this mean that pace will no longer offer their sky boxes?

When people ask me what I think, I tell them: "I think all of the meat around the pig's ass is pork."
