Oz Fta Digital Tops 300,000

There are now over 300,000 free to air digital TV adapters in the Australian market, according to the Digital Broadcasting Authority's estimates. The DBA said that 70% of all sales occurred in the last nine months, with a particular uptick in 1Q04. This was caused by better coverage of regional markets and new interactive and datacasting services, according to DBA managing consultant Tim O'Keefe. Meanwhile, the pay TV digital services launched by Foxtel and Austar in Mar. are seeing rapid consumer take up, with a long waiting list among Foxtel subs.
