Rumour - Express AM 22 in trouble

There are unconfirmed reports that AM 22 at 53E has lost its gyros. It may be worth keeping an eye on this one, and seeing if signal strengths start to vary. I assume they can do some orbital corrections with the onboard thrusters, but if the gyros are indeed knackered shes basically a write off....

My System: Smart lnb, 1m Gibby dish, Stab motor, TM1500CI+Super & TM5200D receivers, 57east to 61west. DTT from Sudbury. Virgin Media broadband.

Just checked, no obvious problems noticed with transmissions from 53east. Plenty of good clear pics and audio, you know where I am AS.

Hi PR hope you are well

This info has come from the sat-nd web site:

_http://www.sat-nd.com/#FAILURES

Which currently reads

"£Ekspress-AM22 without gyros, report
07 Feb 2008 - The Russian Ekspress-AM22 satellite launched in 2003 may be in trouble, according to unconfirmed reports. >>>

Although this is a very dynamic page and changes happen every couple of days or so.

I'll see what else I can find over the next few days - if there is a problem its not something that can be kept quiet very long....

It does seem a little unstable, at least checking the SNR levels on 11161V.

Strangely, I seem to have lost all signal at on that TP, although the 11616V picture is fine here, albeit similar variations in SNR.

Maybe just my location though.
