Telecinco breaks Spanish TV records

Telecinco is Spain’s most-watched TV network. It is also Spain’s most profitable channel.

Aside from being Spain's most watched channel with an average share of 20.3% last year, Mediaset's Telecinco national TV network ended up its trading year as the most valuable channel. Its net profit growth of 12.3% gave it €353 million, or €38.8 million more than in 2006 when the company turned in €314.25 million in net profits.

In terms of its all-important EBITDA numbers, Telecinco reached a record figure of €490.6m, or 10.2% higher than in 2006. And Telecinco's advertising subsidiary Publiespaña also defied gravity, recording a record in advertising income with €1.052 bn, up 8.9% on 2006. Telecinco’s portion of this advertising cake grew nine per cent reaching €1.006 bn.

Finally, in terms of the channel's audience Telecinco held its leadership for the fourth consecutive year reaching 20.3% and with the highest-ever historical advantage over its competitors, Grupo Planeta's Antena 3 TV, Sogecable's Cuatro, TVE's La Primera and Grupo Imagina's la Sexta.
