Travellers with Virgin Trains get free Wi-Fi

Virgin Trains have come to an agreement with the mobile phone network of T Mobile to provide Wi-Fi services for all of their first class customers. This service will be available free of charge in all of the Virgin Trains first class lounges where customers will be able to access the internet through a Wi-Fi enabled device.

The project will see an upgrade in the Wi-Fi infrastructure at the First Class Lounges at London Euston, Coventry, Birmingham New Street, Wolverhampton, Stoke-on-Trent and Manchester Piccadilly. While last month wireless became available in the first class lounge at Runcorn station and essential for international travellers is the system going live later this month as the Birmingham International terminal.

At the same time, Virgin trains are looking to improve the mobile phone signal on board their trains; it is believed that the trains have been upgraded to offer phone users the same sort of signal inside the train that they could get if they were outside the train. These upgraded trains total sixteen at the moment will have special labels by the laptop and mobile phone charging points.
