The Czech Broadcasting Council (RRTV) has licensed a new satellite delivered channel named Sport 5. According to a local report, the service, which is backed by Jiri Hojgr, the former owner of Galaxie Sport (now part of the CME group), will initially be distributed by Astra at 23.5 degrees East and offered by – amongst others – the pre-pay DTH platform CS Link and its Slo'vak sister service SkyLink. In due course, it will also become available on cable and IPTV networks. Although the 24-hour service has 360 days to launch, it would like to make its debut in April.
