Glastonbury Registration: The Final Countdown

Hear that ticking? That's the sound of the clock counting down until the close of Glastonbury registration. That's right - just a few hours remain for you to sign up to be eligible to buy tickets for this year's Glastonbury Festival.

As with last year's tout-busting measures, fans need to register their details in the form of name, address and photograph in order to be eligible to join in the annual scrum known as 'Buying Tickets For Glastonbury' on April 6.

You have until midnight tonight (Friday March 14) so head on over to the official Glastonbury site and do your do there.

This year's Pyramid Stage headliners are Kings Of Leon, Jay-Z and The Verve and acts confirmed thus far include CSS, Goldfrapp, Elbow, The Enemy, The Fratellis, Jimmy Cliff, Neon Neon, Kate Nash, Editors, Leonard Cohen and Neil Diamond.

In related Glastonbury news, organisers are this year offering campers free biodegradable tent pegs in an attempt to prevent injuries to organiser Michael Eavis' dairy cows from the metal pegs that are left behind each year.

The new pegs, made from wheat and potatoes, will be handed out to festival goers upon entry and will disintegrate a few weeks after use.

Explaining the rationale behind the pegs, Michael Eavis said: “We are really pleased to have worked together with Millets to develop a unique eco-friendly solution to the metal tent pegs that are dug up after the Glastonbury Festival.

“The traditional metal tent pegs are harmful to our herd of dairy cows. These unique tent pegs mean we will have happy cows and support our new campaign to ‘Love The Farm, Leave No Trace’.”

As ever, the 2008 Glastonbury Festival will be take place at Worthy Farm Pilton from June 27 - 29.
