French group Iliad, the parent company of web access supplier Free, is now targeting 3.25 million broadband subscribers through ADSL by the end of this year up from 2.9 million at the end of 2007. Free’s objective is to reach the 4 million mark by 2010 thanks to fibre-to-the-home, with 70% of Paris forecast to be covered by the second half of 2009. Iliad announced last week a net income of €150.2 million in 2007, up 24.4%and a little above expectations. Revenues reached €1.2 billion, up 29.7%, while EBITDA increased 35% over one year at €443.6 million. EBITDA margin was 36.6% compared to 35.1% in 2006. Broadband revenues went up 40.7% to €435 million. Boasting 19.7% internet access market share, Free is the second alternative operator behind Neuf Cegetel.
