Ofcom grants Freesat EPG licence

Free-to-air platform Freesat has received a TLCS licence from the UK regulator Ofcom. The licence, granted to Freesat (UK) Limited, is required to operate the platform’s electronic programme guide.

Freesat, a joint venture between the BBC and ITV, is expected to launch later in the spring.

Other notable licensees in Ofcom’s February update include Turner Entertainment Networks International Limited for the recently launched Nordic version of retro cartoon channel Boomerang and Camelot Group plc for National Lottery Xtra.

At the same time licences for the now defunct ITV News Channel and Jetix Turkey have been revoked, though the latter continues to broadcast.
