Music industry talking to ISP’s

In the battle against pirated music and in the wake of the governments decision to force ISP’s to sanction those people who have downloaded pirated material by removing their internet connections, it is time that something was done to clarify the situation.

It would seem that there has been some movement in helping the consumer, the ISP’s and the music industry to finally get around this problem. The way forward could be a deal being hatched by the major music companies and the ISP’s in the UK to provide easier access for the consumers to the downloadable music that they want within the broadband packages.

With the government saying that they will force an ISP to act on internet piracy if they do nothing about themselves they have no choice but to try something. But there are about six million internet users who have downloaded illegal files in the UK alone and around a fifth of those do this while they are work. This throws up all sorts of problems in policing the download activity of users. By offering easy downloads could this be the answer that solves the problem?
