European producer Endemol, creator of reality show Big Brother, is more and more betting on new media production and distribution, now buying UK new media producer Pure Grass Films for some €2 million (US$3.2 milion). Pure Grass specializes in developing internet content and its next project is a 20-episode thriller series called Beyond the Rave which will be financed by British producer Hammer Films. This series will screen on News Corp.’s MySpace TV, a new internet TV platform. Pure Grass Films was founded by former Sony Ericsson executive Ben Grass in 2005. He adapted TV hits such as Spider Man or Charlie’s Angel's for mobile media. But this is not Endemol's first adventure in the new media field. Last year the producer bought out 25% of digital content producer and distributor MoMedia International which has a presence in 35 countries and whose content is distributed in internet companies including MSN, AOL, Yahoo, BT Vision, Vodafone and Germany’s T-Mobile. Endemol's purchases are likely to continue. In 2006 the company created a €19 million fund for investing in these type of companies for a three-year period. source: Rapid TV News
