TF1 goes forward into Web 2.0

Eager to act as a global media company, and to strenghten its presence on the internet as well as on emerging platforms, private French network TF1 has upped some of its stakes.

Deputy General Director in charge of internet products and mobile, Olivier Abecassis, announced TF1 had increased its stake in new localization web portal Nomao, The Place to Bee. Last November 2007, TF1 invested €350,000 in the French portal presided over by Frédéric Montagnon, recently raising its participation from 26% to 35%. Depicted as an original concept, Nomao helps the internaut to share with others his own favourite places and to position them on a Google Maps interactive map.

At the same time, TF1 has also raised its contribution into blog platform Overblog, raising its stake from 20% to 35%. In July 2006, TF1 had first injected €1.4M, then €2.1M more so as to become the first shareholder.
