Portugal's public national broadcaster RTP suffered €36.1 million losses in 2007, a growth in losses of 46.2% in comparison to the previous year. While results were partly affected by the growth of the interest rates, the company's operative results were also down by 58% at €6.9 million. That was due to an increase in the operational costs which grew 1.7% to €307.9 million. More than half of that amount corresponded to programming costs - 12% more than in the previoous year – justified by RTP because in 2007 the broadcaster's 50th anniversary was celebrated, generating high additional costs. Finally, RTP had €314,9 million in revenues including government subsidies for €126 million and those generated by advertising which went up 10% to €74.6 million. source: Rapid TV News
