Trío+, the joint Sogecable/Telefónica triple play offering has not started well, according to market experts. Launched in December, the package’s goal is to reach those subscribers who are not able to receive either offering in certain areas. But at the end of February it did not yet reach 5,000 clients which means fewer than 1,700 new users per month. The comparison with Telefónica's DSL pay TV offer and with Sogecable shows even more the poor development of this new service. Although Imagenio's results over the last few months haven't been made public, those from the fourth quarter 2007 show 42,000 new clients. Now Imagenio has 511,000 subscribers. This means some 14,000 new monthly clients for Imagenio - nearly four times more than those for the Trío+ service. Moreover Telefónica cannot commercialize Imagenio in the whole of Spain since its service requires high speed ADSL of at least 6 Mbps. There are certain areas in which Telefónica's technical broadband network doesn't reach. In contrast, Trío+ is being offered in the whole of the country since the satellite coverage of Sogecable (Astra and Hispasat) is universal. Source: Rapid TV News
