Sky Italia signs NASN

Sports channel NASN (North American Sports Network) has signed a syndication agreement with Sky Italia.

NASN says this is the 40th market that it has now secured. As for content, NASN will get its own branded channel on Sky Italia, and has also sold ESPN’s “largest-ever” batch of HDTV programming comprising some 800 hours of HD sports to Sky Italia.

NASN was acquired by ESPN late in 2006. The new Italian channel goes live tomorrow (April 8). ESPN itself has just launched ESPNews in HD in the USA (March 30), and has plans for ESPN HD in Australia, and ESPNU HD (for college sports) in the US, both later this year.

NASN’s press statement, issued at the MIPtv market in Cannes, talks about their commitment to high-definition globally.
