Deutsche Telekom reduces IPTV prices

German telco Deutsche Telekom is lowering the prices for access to its IPTV platform T-Home Entertain on its broadband networks.

The hardware package with an IPTV compatible set-top-box, router and splitter costs as part of a special promotion in May and June €49.99 instead of €99.99, the Bonn-based company announced. The monthly fees range between €49.95 and €69.95 - depending on the package options chosen - for the triple-play combinations of digital TV, internet and telephony.

The television offer comprises up to 150 channels. Customers also have access to an online video library with more than 2,600 titles, including feature films from all eight large Hollywood studios. They can also use the catch-up service “TV archive”, in which selected series, documentaries and other programmes can be watched free-of-charge after their first television screening. Newly available is the secondary receiver MR 100 for €129.99, which customers can order if they wish to receive the IPTV service in further rooms.

T-Home Entertain can currently be received via broadband technologies ADSL2+ and VDSL in more than 17 million households in 750 towns and cities. By year-end around 1,000 towns and cities should be able to receive the service, corresponding to around 20 million households.
