Eurovision failure not Andy's fault. | | Andy Abraham's the singing dustman who blasted out to over a billion people on Saturday evening must be congratulated for his efforts but as predicted by Eurovision commentators Christo Foufas of LBC, the UK entry came last.
The failure of the UK entry is not only down to the weakness of the entry, which on reflection deserved a much higher place than last, if you compare the song to the Latvia entry (pirates) or the Germany entry which was at best painful. The BBC is to blame for the mess the "Eurovision outlook of the UK" which has now descended into due to the cynical and kitsch approach we seem to have when discussing the Eurovision.
Compare this approach in the UK to that of say Greece, Serbia or Russia who all regard the event as a show piece for their respective music industries, and in fact an advert for their nation. Instead we have Sir Terry Wogan with the same old clichés every year, and the BBC tired and stale approach to the entire competition. What we need now as has happened in Greece is a stable of experienced song writers who have produced or performed at the Eurovision to put their heads together. Also what needs to happen from the EBU is an attempt to maybe to handicap certain countries like Russia so that other nations like the UK have a fair change.
Ultimately the UK as Christo Foufas and Steve Allen have said has a choice either to compete or "pull out".
