The world’s first dedicated magic channel, TVMagicians.com, is launching on an IPTV network, PlayTV UK (from Global Digital Broadcast). Created for magicians, by magicians, the channel is headed up by Geoff Harrison, a foreign correspondent from the BBC who is also a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians.
TVMagicians.com has officially launched on its own internet portal and will begin broadcasting on the PlayTV UK set-top box service later this month. It is the first television station to showcase magic programming 24 hours a day; featuring magicians’ showreels, demonstrations for effects, industry secrets and related material. The station also carries a number of sub channels, screening jazz music, independent films, a DJ and nightclub section and other compatible entertainment material.
Harrison, who has worked around the globe as a professional magician under the name Geoff Diamond, says: “Magicians have been talking about a dedicated magicians’ channel for a number of years now. The channel is already causing a stir in the magic world, with filming recently taking place at London’s oldest magic shop, Davenports, at Charing Cross.”
The channel, supported by Davenports, also broadcasts demonstration material from Penguin Magic (USA), Party
PR (London) and Club Chiva (London). Davenports, in particular, has been a central focus for British magicians and entertainers for more than 100 years. TVMagicians.com has an initial 66 hours of content, and a growing number of clips and films being added on a daily basis.
Harrison adds: “There is nothing like TVMagicians.com in existence – thus why I set it up. Magic is fascinating to both professional magicians and audiences alike; and the channel will highlight the best of magic performances, both classic and new, from around the world.’” TVMagicians.com maybe viewed online at http://www.tvmagicians.com
