New orbital position, CA for TVTEL

Portuguese new satellite pay-TV operator TVTEL will leave Eurobird 9's orbital position in favour of Hispasat which also houses ZON TV Cabo’s and MEO Satélite’s offerings.

This decision is due to technical reasons according to the operator's management and also because they want to give a better service to their clients. TVTEL’s satellite service started barely a year ago, in June 2007.

Together with the change of satellite the operator will go for a new conditional access system for its signals, changing from Conax to Nagravision. This implies a change of decoder and smart card which the operator will do on a free basis for its subscribers. The change of satellite and equipment should be complete by September 7.
